I needed your presence more than your presents,
This blog is one speaking about the absence of fathers, which seem to be becoming more and more common in this day in age. As for me, I did't have a father, but I did have a mother! My mother went above and beyond to make sure I had all the necessities of life. And too, she would and did sacrifice her very last, so that i would have. When talking with my two best friends (Calvin Mulkey and DeAndre Lewis), who too grew up in single parent homes, they agree that the presence of a father shouldn't be seasonal. After sitting back and observing, i see more and more fathers trying to replace their absences with gifts on birthdays and Christmas. (I NEED YOUR PRESENCE, MORE THAN YOUR PRESENTS). Anybody in their right mind, could and would agree, that no one gift is a equivalent, or can even compare to having a father there (I NEED YOUR PRESENCE, MORE THAN YOUR PRESENTS). I commend all the single parent mothers who have, and are currently raising children on their own. This isn't an easy task especially raising males. To the fathers who are absent, start playing a role in your child's life. Teach your sons how to tie a tie, be there for your daughters when they need to talk, but most importantly REMEMBER: (I NEED YOUR PRESENCE MORE THAN YOUR PRESENTS)

Contrary to popular belief, Ignorant is not the new cool.
My first blog: Hi everyone, for those of you who don't know me, I'm David Bass. I am an extremly caring person, with a HUGE heart. I am very passionate about a lot of things like: Children, Education and making sure that each child has a positive mother/father figure, whom they can go to about issues pertaining to life. As for me, I wasn't fortunate enough to have both parent's at home. However, my mother did all that she could, and even more, to make sure her only son had everything he needed, and most of the time everything he wanted. For this i commend you mom.
One thing that really disgruntles me is, seeing a large number of our young brother's and sister's falling into what society has considered "THE TRAP." A lot of today's Hip-Hop artist speak of "THE TRAPP" in their music, but it seems as though they are advertising this way of life, as "THE WAY OF LIFE". After debating with a few friends, who say that "for those people who live this life style, is not because they want to, they have no choice because it's all they know," I would have to disagree. Everyone has the opportunity to better themselves. However, you have to choose to take advantage of that opportunity, or you can choose to settle. As we all know, we are the pilot of our own destiny, and success come's from within.
I would like to know how other people feel own this issues, so feel free to comment, and express your feelings.
Thanks,
David
